The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) is a scholarship awarded by the
Chinese government to overseas students. The scholarship covers tuition fee
and living expenses for overseas students to study in China.

Chinese Government Scholarships
The CGS program was established in 1957, with the purpose of encouraging
talented people from all over the world to come to China for higher
education and contributing their knowledge and skills back home after
graduation, as well as promoting mutual understanding between countries. The
program has been revised several times since its establishment, with changes
made based on domestic economic development needs and international
educational trends.

Fully Funded Scholarship Covers
⦿ School Funds: Study funds will be comprehensively used
by the host university. It can cover the costs of education, administration,
health insurance and expenses to support student activities.
⦿ Accommodation: Free university dormitory or accommodation
allowance for each awardee.
⦿ Monthly Stipend:
Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month (min.)
Master students: CNY 3,000 per month (min.)
Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month (min.)
⦿ Travel expenses:
The scholarship holders would pay their own travel expenses.
Eligibility Criteria for Chinese Government Scholarship
International students (not being Chinese citizens) not in possession
of any other scholarship issued by the Chinese government or any of its
delegations.
Minimum Age Requirement: Undergraduate students should not
be more than 25 years, age limit for Master's degree is 35 years. For
Ph.D. Degree, age limit is 40 years.
Minimum Qualification: Higher Secondary School Certificate or
equivalent for undergraduate students, Bachelor's degree for Master's
degree Doctoral degree for Master's degree.
How to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship?
1. Category A Through Embassy / HEC
‣ First, apply online through http://scholarship.hec.gov.pk/ After
registering and filling your profile, select “Study Abroad
Opportunities”.
‣ After submitting the application, get a printed copy for the applicant's
signature.
‣ Please update your HEC profile with latest email/mobile number and latest
information before applying. We recommend that you complete and submit your
application as soon as possible, as the online application system will be
very busy in the days leading up to the application deadline.
‣ After successfully submitting the application form to the HEC
portal, keep the signed printed application form with you. Submit online
application through CSC web portal http://www.campuschina.org/ or
http://www.csc.edu.cn Program Type: A and Agency Number 5861.
‣ Download the submitted copy of the completed application from the Chinese
Scholarship Council portal, print it and keep the signed copy with
you.

or download the Chinese Government Scholarship Guidelines and fill out the
Chinese Government.
‣ Online scholarship application on the CSC portal. Online submission of
applications on CSC and HEC portal is mandatory.
‣ If the form is not submitted on any of the above-mentioned portals, the
application will not be considered. All applicants should provide HAT or
USAT test scores. Test categories are attached.
‣ Applicant must score at least 50 out of 100 on the HAT or USAT test.
Applicants who took the HAT or USAT test on or after January 1, 2022 may
upload the test result to the HEC portal for consideration.
‣ Applications will not be considered for further processing without
providing a minimum HAT or USAT test score (50 out of 100). Aspirants who
are yet to take the HAT or USAT test can register at
https://etc.hec.gov.pk/
‣ Note: Please note that hard copies of applications are not required at
this stage. Manual or incomplete/saved applications on the portal will not
be entertained under any circumstances.
2. Category B through University
‣ In this Category you have to apply for Scholarship through desire
University you want to take Admissions.
‣ In this Category you just need to apply for Selected University through
their official website and also fill out the application form
at http://www.campuschina.org/
‣ In this method you can apply for 3 Targeted Universities. Just you have
to send all your Required documents to University and no USAT or HAT
needed.

Documents Required
The Chinese Government Scholarship is a prestigious award for international
students. In order to be eligible, applicants need to provide a number of
documents to prove their eligibility.
The following are the documents
required for the Chinese Government Scholarship:
Application form (in Chinese or English): The application form
will be generated automatically after correct filling through the Chinese
Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS). Online
application instructions are in the next chapter.
Scanned copy of passport information page: An applicant must
submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport
which will not expire on or before 1st March 2023.
Application. An applicant who, for objective reasons, fails to apply
for a passport before submitting his/her application, may submit valid
documents or documentary evidence after approval by the Embassy stating
the applicant's full English name, gender , nationality and date of
birth information.
Higher education diploma and certificate (notarized
photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student must
submit a certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by
their university. Documents in languages other than Chinese or
English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English
translation.
Academic Transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than
Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English
translation.
Certificates of Language Proficiency: Applicants for
Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK reports in accordance with
the relevant Chinese proficiency requirements. For other
language-taught programs, applicants must provide a relevant language
proficiency certificate in accordance with the universities' requirements,
such as an IELTS or TOFEL report.
Admission documents: To apply for Masters and Doctoral degrees or
as General and Senior Scholars, applicants must provide the applicant with
the admission documents issued by the applying universities.
Admission documents include admission notice, pre-admission letter,
invitation letter from professors and etc. Applicants with admission
documents will have priority in winning Chinese government
scholarships.
Study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English. (A
minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree
students, and 800 words for postgraduates.)
Letters of recommendation: Applicants for graduate programs
or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation from
professors or associate professors in Chinese or English.
Example of Art: To apply for art or design-related majors,
applicants can submit their works to CGSIS through “Art Illustration/Other
Supporting Documents”. Applicants may also provide such materials
directly to Applied Universities through other means.
Applicants under the age of 18 must submit valid documents from their
legal guardians in China before enrolling in September 2022. Those
applicants can fill “Contact in China” through CGSIS. If he does not
have a contact person or organization in China, he can contact the Fiji
Embassy in China and fill it.
Applicants who intend to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit
a photocopy of the completed foreign physical examination form in English
(the original copy must be with the applicant. The form is designed by the
Chinese Quarantine Authority. What. Examinations must cover all
items listed on the foreign physical examination form. Incomplete records
or those without the attending physician's signature, official hospital
stamp or stamped photograph of the applicant are incorrect. Please
choose a suitable time to do the physical examination as the result is
only valid for 6 months.
Non-criminal record report: The applicant must submit a
valid certificate of non-criminal record issued by the local public
security authority, which is usually issued within 6 months from the date
of application submission.
